This year we grew! For the first time we saw the introduction of a U/9’s comp. A great pathway created for the solid numbers of NetSetGo participants we have had the last two season.
Not only did we have two amazing coaches sign on – Kelly and Cathy but our team took to the courts with spirit and energy. Our littlest Sunday Eagles warming hearts every time they took the court. On most occasions we scored more goals than our opposition, we were consistently improving week by week and some stand out players to watch over the coming years.
We welcomed back some amazing coaches, Mary, Jesse and Marg and opened our arms to some new faces, Jay, Kelly, Cathy, Sheryl, Daniel and Elzanne. Thank you to this dedicated bunch of people who showed up week in week out. For most training twice a week, playing a mid-week comp and rising early for games on Sunday.
Because of the culture we continue to grow here at Eynesbury FNC we attracted some of the best players in the region – a whole team in fact and three who represented the VIC schools’ team.
Honourable mention to Giselle and Aliyah who were named as Captain and Vice-Captain. We are also quickly becoming the go to club for talent with Westside Saints recruiting and scouting over 10 of our girls to represent them in their various competitions whilst also having a player selected to play at VU (Vic Uni).
This year we wanted to take our teams to the next level. We invested in a specialist coach Narena Baker who has an extensive resume. Her specialised training sessions took our teams and coaches skills up a notch. The development across all our age groups was huge and this year we had four teams, 13 Green, 13 White, 15 Green & 17’s reach finals. While our teams couldn’t quite take the wins in the second round of finals this achievement is one to celebrate. To quote the Romsey netball Coordinator – ‘Eynesbury used to be the guaranteed win, you guys are now setting the benchmark’.
I would like to congratulate Willow, Maddie S and Jess B all invited as top three players in their age group to the RDFNL Jnr presentation night held a few weeks ago. Willow walking away with third in her first year of Netball and Maddie and Jesse both taking home the win. Congratulations to Jesse Stiles who was appointed assistant coach of the U/13’s RDFNL Rep side and Ella S and Abbie K who also represented us.
A special mention to Mary F. Mary has been a long-standing coach at Eynesbury, and this will be her last year as they adventure across to Perth. Mary and the girls Ella and Millie have been wonderful members of the Eagles family for many, many years. We wish them all the best.
I believe the 2025 season is going to be bigger and better than ever with the recent appointment of Narena as our Head Coach – we have so many wonderful things to look forward to and a few surprises in store.
We are positive we will have our first RDFNL Senior Netball side with an opening for a 19’s Team for the 2025 Season.
What a season it has been.
Thank you,
Sam
